About AI–ChrisWOV

AI–ChrisWOV (Aid International Christian Women of Vision) is a non-governmental, non-denominational, non-profit, and volunteer-based charity organisation dedicated to serving destitute orphans, vulnerable street children, widows, and people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in the North West Region of Cameroon.

Founded in October 2000, ChrisWOV was established by a group of committed women from the Christian Women Fellowship (CWF) of the Presbyterian Church of Cameroon, Musang Congregation in Bamenda. These women were inspired during evangelistic visits to surrounding communities, where they encountered widespread suffering among widows and orphans caused by poverty, stigma, and traditional marginalisation.

Moved by compassion and guided by Christian values as expressed in James 1:27, the members resolved to sacrifice their time, talents, and resources to support the most disadvantaged people in society..

Our Background

In the early years, many widows in the community had been left in extreme hardship due to HIV/AIDS. Some were unjustly blamed for the deaths of their husbands and forced out of their homes, while their orphaned children dropped out of school, became vulnerable to exploitation, or ended up on the streets.

ChrisWOV began with 21 women contributing to a solidarity fund. In 2001, the organisation launched its first empowerment initiative by training widows in simple income-generating activities and providing start-up support. As the impact grew, membership and assistance expanded beyond the Presbyterian Church into the wider community.

Today, ChrisWOV continues to grow as a recognised humanitarian organisation with strong local and international partnerships.

Our Vision

To make the world a place where even the less-privileged live happy and fulfilling lives and look up to God in thankfulness.
